We have our painful experiences in our daily life. However, it is not a mandatory need to avoid that to smooth ourselves. Painful experience is some kind of trauma and mood disturbance that happen in our life. In Focusing, Eugene Gendlin creates steps to guide us to feel and allow to touch the painful experiences. Peter A. Levin use Felt Sense to negotiate trauma in his approach which is Somatic Experiencing.
Trauma always suddenly happen in a sudden. Moreover, our body has its wisdom to deal with it. Felt Sense is one of entrance that we can make use of it. Felt Sense is presenting our whole situation of our body to reflect our response in nature. Therefore, stay and learn Focusing can create a gentle touch of our feeling and re-create a space for inner critic self.
One of my best experience of doing Focusing is make use of drawing to feel my inner critic part. By looking of my drawing, I feel my body sensation, imagery, emotion, and wounds that happened in the past. However, it seems repairing with a drop of tears. I re-think the process of that sessions of Focusing. I believe my frozen structure of wounds are healed through accepting my inner critic of teenage rage.
Drawing is some kind of process to slow down and feel about ourself. Making use of hand and colours, it is more concrete and anchor our deepest feeling. It is being express by externalism to the world our subconscious. I can feel our deepest yarning has its body wisdom to repair.
